What my clients have to say:

THRILLED! That is the only word I can use to describe how happy we are with Amy's work. Amy has done a fabulous job painting 4 rooms in our home. She painted each room according to each one of our needs and desires. Thank you so much Amy for making our home feel so warm and inviting. I will be looking forward to more of your work in the future.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

MY MISSION:

I believe everyone is creative. Yes, even the self- proclaimed "I can't draw a stick figure!" types.  My job is to take your creative vision, draw it out, and make it come to life.

MY BACKGROUND:

I grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia among farms and apple orchards. My childhood was spent making things- Lego structures, Halloween costumes, and drawing my own comic books. I received my first 'real' paint set at age 14- a set of acrylic paints that I got for my birthday. Later, in high school, I began learning about oils and watercolors.

When I'm painting just for me, my favorite subjects have always evolved around nature- I'm constantly amazed by it's beauty and detail. And I'd count Henri Matisse and Antoni Gaudi as 2 of my favorite artists- because of their colorful, imaginative works.

I earned an Art Degree from University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA and received departmental honors for excellence in painting. But my true artistic growth began when I started working for other people- being constantly pushed and challenged to see - and create- their visions.

My business began as Murals by Amy in 1999 when I painted my first mural for a friend. Since then, I built my business through word-of-mouth referrals and today, countless works adorn homes and businesses throughout the greater Washington DC area, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. On average, over 50 new projects a year are added to my ever-growing portfolio. One notable mural was painted for a home listed on the National Historic Registry- and built in the mid 1700's!

Featured in Washingtonian Magazine, the Washington Times, and Self-Employed America, I've developed a reputation of creating custom-tailored artwork that will delight and amaze.

IN THE COMMUNITY

If you have a special opportunity to serve the community, please ask. I've spoken at area Career Days and donated time scene painting for school theatre productions.

Most notably, I serve as chairman for a non-profit youth camping program and recently published a children's book. You can learn more about- or purchase- my book by visiting the publisher's website, www.DopscotchPress.com.
